Eyes that saw me in the darkest night…

Eyes that looked into mine
Straight into my heart and all that was buried inside
Eyes that saw the fine line
between my strength and weakness, shame and pride

Eyes that saw me in the streets
Begging for change and all the terrible things that I did
Eyes that saw my dumpster-sheets
That I bled, cried and slept on as a troubled street kid

Eyes that saw me on my knees
When everyone else spat on me and acted blind
Eyes that read my lips saying please
When everyone else acted deaf and never looked behind

Eyes that saw me lost in a maze
In a labyrinth of struggles, chaos, drugs, guns and bullets
Eyes that saw my darkest days
The days when I robbed to eat and smoked “weed” to the fullest

Eyes that saw tears I constantly cried
My pain, sorrows, sufferings and all that came with it
Eyes that saw me when I almost died
When I slit my wrist and threw myself head-down in a pit

…are the only eyes that shone me light

Today at dusk I see the sun rise tomorrow
- Edwin Onyango
“In the deep end, but it still feels shallow.
I guess it depends on how deep is the low!
If you always see my shadow,
It means that there is always light everywhere I go
I paint and write poems but you still cannot connect the dots
Human mind cannot fully capture the depths and complexity of my thoughts!!!"
*Thinking...*

If you think that you are smarter than some people I think you are smart enough to know that you are dumber than others too!!!

Before you walk a mile in my shoes
Let me show you my scars
Before you feel sorry for my dark days
Let me show you its stars

My Prime

I hold hands with my own shadow
And make footpaths for us to follow
We walk paths that only I know
And journey in the realm of time
To find myself. My happiness,
joy, love, strength...; My prime
